Privacy Policy

The short version. Walkey has no account, and we never ask for your name. Your step counts, distance, heart rate and other Health values are never sent to us. With your permission, we count how the app is used so we can improve Walkey. We don't sell your data and we don't show ads.
Who runs Walkey
Walkey is run by Paul Cantor, an individual based in Romania, who decides how your data is used (the "data controller"). You can reach us at help@walkeyapp.com.
What stays on your devices
These are only on your iPhone and Apple Watch. We don't receive them.
- Apple Health. With your permission, Walkey reads steps, walking and running distance, workouts, heart rate, and active and resting energy, to show your progress and your walks. It saves completed walks, steps and distance back to Apple Health.
- Motion. With your permission, Walkey uses your iPhone's motion data to count your steps during a walk.
- Camera and Photos. Only when you choose to take a photo for a walk's share picture, or to save that picture. Walkey doesn't read your photo library. If you share a picture to another app, that app receives what you send it.
- Your settings and history. Your goal, streak, steps bank, Walkey Trainer plan, reminders, colour and saved walks. Reminders are scheduled on your iPhone.
Your iPhone and Apple Watch exchange this information directly so both stay up to date. If you use iCloud, Apple may back up or sync your Health data under Apple's privacy policy.
Usage data, only if you say yes
Walkey asks you the first time you open it. If you say no, nothing is recorded or sent. You can change your mind at any time in Settings, under Health and Permissions.
If you say yes, we receive:
- A random install ID. It isn't your device's ID and it changes if you reinstall. We still treat it as personal data.
- What happens in the app. Screens you open, buttons you tap, how long you stay, and whether walks start and save properly, including errors and crashes.
- The choices you make. For example the goal and Walkey Trainer plan you pick, your colour, your reminder days and hour, and which widgets you use.
- How the day went, in simple form. Whether you reached your goal, your streak length, and how many walks you did. Never the step counts themselves.
- Your setup. iPhone and Apple Watch model, system version, app version, language, region, the country of your App Store account, and whether you are on Free, a trial or Pro.
We never receive: step counts, distance, heart rate or other Health values, your name, your email, anything you type, or your IP address (we don't store it).
We use this data only to fix problems and decide how to improve Walkey. When you turn it off, recording stops and your install ID is deleted from your phone. On our side, your past events are given a new random ID and unlinked from your purchases, so they stay only as part of our totals. We keep detailed events for 12 months, then keep only daily totals.
Purchases
Apple handles every payment. We never see your card details or your Apple Account. Apple tells us about subscription events such as a trial starting, a renewal, a cancellation or a refund, so that Pro works and we can understand our business. If you said yes to usage data, a random token connects these events to your install ID.
Messages you send us
If you write to us through Help & Feedback in the app, we receive your message, your email address if you choose to add it, your app version and your iPhone model. If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write. We use this only to answer you and improve Walkey, and we delete it within 24 months.
This website
This website uses no cookies and no analytics. Our hosting provider keeps short technical logs, which can include your IP address, to keep the site running and secure.
Who helps us
- Apple for the App Store, payments and subscription events.
- Supabase stores usage data and feedback on servers in Frankfurt, Germany.
- Our website host serves this website.
They may only use your data to provide their service to us. We don't sell your data, share it for advertising, or use Health data for marketing.
Why we are allowed to use your data
Under European data protection law: your consent for usage data and for access to Health, Motion, Camera and Photos; our contract with you for Pro and for answering you; and our legitimate interest in keeping the service and this website secure.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent at any time. Email help@walkeyapp.com. Because usage data has no name attached, we may not be able to tell which of it is yours; turning it off in the app removes the link to you. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Deleting Walkey removes its data from your iPhone. Walks saved to Apple Health stay there until you delete them in the Health app.
Children
Walkey isn't meant for children under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, tell us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change what we collect, we'll update this page and its date, and ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
